This 4 days Bwindi Gorilla safari journeys you through Bwindi Impenetrable National Park introduces you to Uganda’s most sought-after wildlife, the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitats and the Batwa pygmy community. This will help you learn more about their simple life while they still lived in the jungles of Bwindi, before it was gazetted into a national park.

At 321 square kilometers, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is considered small in all aspects but what it offers will blow your mind. It has the highest ever-recorded number of mammal species in a park, totaling to 120 as well as about 400 plant species, over 350 bird species and 200 butterfly species.

For your 4-day gorilla safari, the journey starts in Entebbe with arrivals and later flight into Kihihi, then return back to Entebbe.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport

Welcome to the spectacular Uganda – the Pearl of Africa! You will kick-start your 4-day Bwindi gorilla safari in Entebbe – the gateway into the country. The town is popular for its numerous attractions that include Entebbe Botanical Gardens, Ngamba Sanctuary Island, cycling tours and busy neighborhoods.

When you arrive, our company representative will meet and greet you, assist with clearing, immigrations and picking bags. Later, you will meet the driver who will transfer you to the hotel for relaxation from the jet lag.

With time permitting, you will explore some of the top highlights of Entebbe that include guided nature walks through Entebbe Botanical gardens, cycling through the fishing village, the vibrant neighborhoods and shores of Lake Victoria.

Day 2: Fly to Kihihi, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After fueling (breakfast), you will be transferred to the Airport for check-in at 6:00am and later flight to Kihihi. This flight departs at 7:00am and arrives at about 8:35am, although flight duration largely depends on the routing. However, it is important to note that flights are subject to changes and on getting to the airstrip, our private driver will be ready to transfer you to the Lodge.

On arrival, you will check-in at the Lodge, and later spend the remainder of the day at leisure- visit the local community or enjoy some of the Lodge facilities life massage (if provided).

  • Midrange: Mahogany Springs or Silverback Lodge.

Flight time: 1:35minutes (although time depends on the day’s routing).

Day 3: Gorilla Trek and Batwa Community tour

Craving for the chance to meet face to face with the mountain gorillas in their natural habitats? On the third day, you will have an early breakfast at the Lodge or opt for packed breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for briefing.

You will be taken through the rules and protocols to be followed while trekking and spending time with the mountain gorillas. Get allocated into one of the gorilla families and at 8:00am start walking through the jungle to find the Giant Apes. This walk will go on for the next 1-4 hours with extraordinary sightings along the way-primates, birds, butterflies and reptiles among others.

Get to spend one magical and unforgettable hour with the mountain gorillas before returning to the park headquarters for your trekking certificate.

A delicious meal will be served once you return to the Lodge. Your afternoon is dedicated to discovering the unique cultures and traditions of Batwa community. After the rewarding cultural experience, you will spend the rest of the day relaxing at the Lodge and taking in views of the forest.

Day 4: Kihihi – Entebbe flight, connecting flight back home or next safari destination.

They say all good things must come to an end and this is time to bid farewell to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After your final breakfast at the Lodge, you will be transferred to the Airstrip for the flight back to Entebbe. The flight leaves at 8:45am and lands at about 11:25am, sometimes earlier or later.

Depending on your international flight schedule, you will either have lunch at one of the restaurants in Entebbe or relax at a hotel before embarking on the return flight back home.
