Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe, Uganda

Welcome to Entebbe, the gateway into Uganda which is one of the rapidly growing towns and was considered the Colonial Capital of Uganda. It is fringed by Lake Victoria – Africa’s largest freshwater Lake. Not only is Entebbe the gateway into Uganda but is filled with charisma and charm, with a lot to explore on your arrival day, which depends on the time of arrival.

The suggested options of discovering Entebbe Town are;

  • Take the two-hour walk-through Entebbe Botanical gardens to discover primates, butterflies and birds that include the yellow-billed ducks, pink-backed pelicans, lesser jacana, yellow-billed storks, Glossy ibis, Eastern grey plantain-eater, African jacana, Ross turaco, Egyptian goose, Spur-winged lapwing, to mention but a few.
  • Spend the afternoon at Ngamba island chimpanzee Sanctuary.
  • Take a cycling tour through the slums, fishing villages, shores of Lake Victoria and others.
  • Craft shopping.

Overnight:

Day 2: Entebbe to Kasese – Kibale Forest National Park

Today, you will enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel in Entebbe and catch the first flight to Kasese airstrip. The flight departs at 7:00am and arrives at about 10:05am. However, it is important to note that flights are subject to changes and the duration depends on the day’s routing. Once you arrive, you will take two hour’s drive to the lodge and have the rest of the day relaxing.

Overnight:

  • Ndali Lodge or Kyaninga Lodge (luxury).
  • Primate Lodge or Turaco Treetops (midrange).

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Flight time: 1h30 minutes to 2 hours (depending on routing).

Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park – Chimpanzee trek and Bigodi wetland walk.

In the morning, the driver drops you off at Kanyanchu Visitor Center to start your chimpanzee trekking adventure. First attend the briefing provided by the park ranger to go through the guidelines to be followed by trekking the chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

You will have about 1-4 hours of walking through Kibale Forest, searching for the great apes that call it their home. Once spotted, you will get a chance to learn about their human-like behavior while taking photos. Lunch will be enjoyed at the Lodge, followed by resting.

In the afternoon, time permitting, you will visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a simple birding walk to see the great blue turacos, Papyrus gonolek, Papyrus canary and others. If time allows, learn about banana juice making, beer, gin and wine brewing. During this tour, the local guide will even offer the drinks for tasting.

Day 4: Kibale Forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park, boat ride

Today, you will head to Queen Elizabeth National Park by private road transfer aboard our luxurious land cruiser in the morning. The drive is about 2 hours and goes through the countryside filled with views of banana farms, tea plantations, deep valleys and roadside markets. You will have time to relax and enjoy lunch at the Lodge before continuing for the afternoon boat ride.

The boat ride through Kazinga Channel takes 2-3 hours with views of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and plethora of birds that include the African skimmer, African fish eagles, Pink-backed pelicans, Kingfishers and many others. Enjoy dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

  • Luxury: Kyambura Gorge Lodge or Elephant Plains Lodge.
  • Midrange: Mweya Safari Lodge or Buffalo Safari Lodge.

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 5: All-day Queen Elizabeth National Park game drive.

Arise and shine with breakfast at your safari lodge before taking on an early game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park. There are great hopes of catching up with the nocturnal wildlife life lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, serval cats and jackals before they return to their hideouts.

Also, expect sights of elephants, topis, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Defassa waterbucks, warthogs, bushbucks, mongoose, duikers and hippos among others. You will head back to the Lodge for siesta and lunch.

In the late afternoon you will have another game drive that will end with sundowner in the middle of the wilderness, where you will enjoy drinks while watching the sun set over the sweeping horizon.

Day 6: Kasese to Entebbe by flight, departure
